Keep The Fire Burning

“I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire.” Matthew 3:11. The fire of God refers to several things. It refers to purity, passion, and power. My conjecture after over 25 years of ministry is that many Christians don’t know their purpose in life. They don’t know why they are born-again. They haven’t come to the realization of the purpose of the Spirit baptism. If our starting point is not right, then our walk and intent will not be right, and eventually our end results will be minimal compared to what the Heavenly Father wants for all His sons and daughters through Jesus Christ.
“Even the mystery which hath been hid from the ages and from generation but now is made manifest to his saints: To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.” Colossians 1:26-27. Our purpose, the reason that we are born-again and Spirit baptized is to give glory to God by showing forth His glory. It is both common among Christians and easy to get settled into the normal routine of life and have our walk with God relegated to one or two meetings a week, hear a message and then go home and be comfortable, not bother anyone, and just have our needs met. That, my friends is what I call – BORING! That is missing what Jesus’ purpose was in dying and being resurrected.
“For John truly baptized with water, but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence. But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost parts of the earth.” Acts 1:5,8. Our mission in life is to be empowered with His fire and demonstrate the person and work of the Lord Jesus Christ to a lost, a hurting, and a dying world so that they may know Him and become people of the Kingdom of God with His glory, His love, His strength, His power, and His might. This is more than a lifestyle to conform to. THIS IS OUR LIFE! There is no other life except His life radiating passionately and purely, burning brightly for all the world to see and experience for His glory.
Our response to His ability (responsibility) is not to be satisfied with the status quo. Our part is to desire for Christ to accomplish great things through our life. There is no limit as to what God will do through one life that is submitted to His purpose. For many of us, our vision is too small. God has destined great and mighty things that we know not of because we have not called upon Him to show us those things. We have let the world shape us into its mold rather than us going out and changing the world. It begins with Jesus Christ and His glory, is perpetuated with Him and His glory, and will be completed in Him and through Jesus Christ and His glory.
