It's Time To Shine
Isaiah 60:1-5 says, “Arise shine for your light is come and the glory of the Lord is risen upon you.” Most Bible scholars have relegated this Scripture to the future when in actuality it is for right now. All Old Testament prophecy deals with and points to Christ and the church. It may have relevance to Israel at the time of writing, but it also applies to Christ and the church. We should be able to find Jesus in every book of the Bible.
John 1:1 says, “In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God.” John 1:4 says, “In Him was life and the life was the light of men.” Verse 5. “And the light shines in darkness and the darkness comprehended it not or could not overcome it (the Light).” So according to the Scriptures, Jesus is the light that has overcome and when we receive Him as Lord and Savior we receive that life which is the light. John 1:14 says that “We beheld His glory, the glory of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.” John 1:16, “And of His fullness have we all received and grace for grace.”
So we have received Jesus Christ, who is the life which is the light which is the glory of God! Now what? “Arise shine for your light has come and the glory of the Lord is risen upon you! Matthew 5:14-16 says “We are the light of the world, we are the city set on a hill, let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” Colossians 1:27 says “To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles, which isChrist in you the hope of glory.”
What are the good works that we are to do to bring glory to God? It’s not bringing chicken soup to a sick neighbor or walking a little old lady across the street. Anybody, without the life or light of God can do that. No, it’s healing the sick, raising the dead, and casting out devils! Christians, it’s time to shine because we are not short of the glory of God anymore. No devil can withstand the light of God that is in you, that God has clothed you with because the light overcomes darkness! It’s time to stop praying against defeated foes and tearing down imaginary strongholds of demons and devils and go forth in the Name of Jesus with His life, His light, His glory and demonstrate the kingdom of God to a lost world of darkness. Let’s bring glory to our king – Jesus – by shining our light in a world of darkness with a demonstration of signs, wonders, and miracles.
